ALBUM REVIEW: Lacy Green, Thomm Jutz and Adam Wright's 'Shakespeare's Bones' Demonstrates the Power of Collaboration

Shakespeare’s Bones, the new album collaboration by Lacy Green, Thomm Jutz, and Adam Wright, shows how magic can happen when friends get together and give creativity free rein. The three have made their mark through songwriting and their own recording projects, and when they began working on the songs that would become this album — some with Dean Fields as a co-writer — they recognized they had hit on something special.

They got together and recorded the songs with little pre-planning other than chord charts. The first session went so well that they scheduled two more, laying down 12 tracks that show what happens when creativity and talent are mixed with a good dose of fun. The songs range from slow and sultry to flat-out jaunty, all marked by the caliber of songwriting that their peers and fans have learned to expect from them.

“Little Dove,” released as an early single, examines the creative process metaphorically. The lyrics compare a song in the writer’s sights to a dove, asking, “Don’t you want to see it fly / Before you shoot that little dove down?”
