Wakarusa 2012 Stage Schedule Released - Blogging my way to Mulberry Mountain

With only a month left until the momentous Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival of 2012, it's time to check the Official Stage Schedulefor the event and begin planning for the premier live music event in the midwest. released last Thursday through JamBase. I can't be the only one looking at the calendar and mumbling "Where did April go?" to myself,  but I am starting to feel that mounting excitement of getting to be a part of such a collaboration of music, art, and appreciative fans.  This year's lineup has an interesting combination of musical styles, so if any of the 2012 Lineup catches your eye, leave a comment on my blog posts and be a part of the conversation about the music coming to life in Ozark, Arkansas this June.

There's bound to be something for everyone: the early morning groove and the late-night encounters. For a simple music-lover in the Midwest, this is a pretty explosive gathering. Like Wakarusa, I was born and raised in Kansas, home to the Walnut Valley Festival; I camped at Winfield back when I was growing up. Homegrown artists often start out honing their skills at small venues and move on to the national stage. Local folk, jazz, and bluegrass traditions fit right into the heartland music scene; in its own way, so does Wakarusa. Come enjoy those rich sounds we love, here, on this beautiful mountain, with a big-scale show and lots of friends.

I look forward to seeing the Arkansas Ozarks again, where the landscapes and the greenery beckon you to join the celebration of the beauty around you with songs and good times. This will be my second time up to Mulberry Mountain, this year courtesy of NoDepression.com and the hard-working festival crew. I'll be blogging from there: checking in each day, interviewing the bands you love, and collecting memories of the other festival attendees to share with you. I look forward to bringing my perspective on the festival to you, from press check-in to camping, to meeting the bands & the fans; the entire sound experience.  I pledge to get as close to the action as possible, and to get the most out of those four days as I can. Now to print off my schedule and start penciling in my favorite acts and new finds!
