No Depression's Best of July 2026 Playlist
Clockwise from left, John R. Miller, Allison Russell, Low Cut Connie, Wyatt Flores, Cinder Well, and Punch Brothers

Between the holiday at the beginning of the month and summer vacations hitting by the end, July can sometimes be a funny time for new music releases. Although last month was a bit slower than previous months (we're still reeling from May's onslaught!), there were still plenty of great roots records to please the ears.

July's Spotlight artist John R. Miller and Philly roots-rock band Low Cut Connie both had some sharp social commentary last month: Read Miller's evocative essay and a profile on Low Cut Connie here. Elsewhere around the roots music scene, The Punch Brothers went instrumental and Allison Russell returns with the largest collaboration record of the year.

All these artists and more are included in the new Qobuz playlist below. We're trying out yet another platform to try to figure out how best share information and music while still supporting artists (but don't worry, we're still on Spotify and also on Deezer). In the meantime, don't forget to support nonprofit music journalism here at No Depression and become a member to read about these musicians and discover others.
