After a hefty month for new roots music in May, June barely slowed down. With 50 roots music releases on our radar, No Depression explored the longevity of folk singers like Tift Merritt and Rodney Crowell, the return of roots-rock band Deer Tick, and the reinvention of country-rock singer River Shook. Additionally, we championed the long-awaited debut by queer, cosmic country artist Andrew Sa and fiddler/percussive dancer Sophie Wellington.
