A lot has happened on the vinyl front since the last update nearly three months ago. Not only have we been treated to definitive reissues (reviewed below) of albums by Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and blues legends Skip James and Albert King, but also albums by two underserved genres, soul, Marvin Gaye, and bluegrass, Boone Creek featuring Ricky Skaggs and Jerry Douglas. Last, but not least, we’ve got vinyl from a new, outstanding talent, Canadian trumpet player and vocalist Bria Skonberg.
There’s also a piece of breaking news, in celebration of Acoustic Sounds' 40th Anniversary, founder, CEO and "Wizard of Vinyl" Chad Kassem will host the first Vinyl Summit, October 15-18, 2026 in Salina, Kansas. It’s designed as a four-day immersion into every corner of vinyl culture: audiophile listening, mastering, pressing, collecting, hi-fi innovation, and live performances by Taj Mahal, Jimmie Vaughan, Big Muddy Morganfield, and others. More information can be found here. In case you are unaware, Kassem (no relation to Casey Kasem) has, with his Acoustic Sounds web store, Analogue Productions label, Quality Records Pressings pressing plant, been the primary mover and shaker in the record revival, and central to that revival ever since he began selling records out of his garage over 40 years ago.
Unless otherwise noted, all titles are currently available.
