We are proud to present this installment of our No Depression Session series in partnership with NYC honky-tonk Lucinda’s and Hiatus Tequila. When Lucinda Williams teamed up with industry lifers Laura McCarthy and Kelley Swindall to create a Southern country bar in NYC’s East Village with a killer jukebox, we knew we needed to find a way to work together.
Congratulations to the six fellas from Virginia on their sixth studio album Change of Plans, which is out in the world today! 49 Winchester spent the morning of their recent NYC album release show with us at Lucinda's, sharing two new tunes from the record, and a fan favorite.
Frontman Isaac Gibson described the new album as their most evolved record to date, saying, "I think we've leveled up, musically, just flexing our studio muscle over time." Gibson also described the working relationship with uber-producer Dave Cobb at his recording studio in Savannah, GA: "Dave's efficiency and the way that he works, really promotes creativity. You don't have time to second-guess anything, it's very natural... I think it was good to go in, work at a really frenetic pace, and just capture as much energy as possible."
The guys are road-warrioring hard for the foreseeable future, have a look at the tour dates, odds are good they're playing somewhere near you between now and September.
