Most of the time I focus these columns on recent releases by artists I’ve written about for years, sometimes decades. There’s plenty of that this month as well, but out front we have the auspicious debut album from a brand new Irish trio called Amble. Beyond that are acts with whom I’ve shared geography at some point: Tony Kamel hails from my old hometown of Austin, the Minus 5 take me back to my Pacific Northwest glory days, and three more acts are Southern California fixtures I’ve seen since moving here two years ago. And then there are the inevitable interconnections; read on to catch all of those.
