James Felice (of The Felice Brothers) has announced his sophomore solo album, Homeward Blue, will be released on Nov. 13 via Conor Oberst's Million Stars Records. The follow-up to 2025's The Little Ones was produced by Bright Eyes' Nate Walcott. Felice has dropped the record's first single, "Let Yourself Live," which you can listen to below. “There are no easy answers, you have failed yourself and others, and you are a fool. So this song is a celebration of that feeling,” he says of the track in the album's press materials. “I look for warmth and hopefulness in a world that is overwhelmingly dark and brutal. It may have a fatalistic impersonal twirl to it, but we get to map our meaning onto this life. I find that to be so beautiful, and so interesting — all of us small people and our petty concerns. There’s a lot of beauty to find.”
Today (Sept. 25), many cities across the country are celebrating Dolly Parton Day — get it? 9-2-5? — with festivities honoring the late legend, who died on Aug. 25. In Nashville, various buildings across the city will be lit up pink in honor of Parton, and venues and businesses will be blasting "9 to 5" when the clock strikes 5 p.m. ET. The city will also host a fireworks display beginning at 9:25 p.m. ET. “Dolly Parton’s impact on Nashville will be felt for generations, through the music she has given us, the people she has helped and the example she continues to set,” Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell said in a statement. “She has shown us that caring for a community means showing up for one another.” You can read more about what Music City has planned for Dolly Parton Day here.
Dom Flemons has announced a new album, Making American Music: The Smithsonian Sessions. The LP, which is slated to drop on Jan. 22, 2027, was recorded at the Nicholas and Eugenia Taubman Hall of Music at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, and it's the first-ever roots music album made entirely using instruments from the museum’s vast musical instrument collection. Mary Bragg dropped the music video for "The Game," the latest single off of her forthcoming album, Secrets to Strangers (out Oct. 16 via Single Lock Records). The track was produced by Ben Tanner and John Paul White, and it was recorded in Muscle Shoals at the legendary FAME Studios. “It took almost eight years of being together for me to document in a lyric the painful, complex story of not being allowed to meet my wife’s parents; to never be welcomed into the home where she grew up,” Bragg wrote in a statement about the song. “Our feelings around being denied the simple act of acknowledgement by the ones who care about her the most have vacillated between gracious understanding to deep frustration and sadness, and back to sympathetic forgiveness again. With their stance being rooted in their religion, we’ve nearly given up hope that we might one day cross that threshold together. But until then, we felt it incredibly important to share our story and bring this devastating feeling out into the light, because as others experience this still common story of the queer experience, at least they’ll be reminded that they’re not alone.”

Brothers Osborne have released the "SELLOUT EDIT" of "Doors," their latest single off of the forthcoming Watertown (out Oct. 23 via MCA). The group is releasing these cut-down edits of the album's tracks ahead of its release, and fans who want to hear the full-length version of any pre-release track can do so by signing up for Brothers Osborne’s fan club, The Family, for free via their website.
“Our SELLOUT EDITS are a result of understanding where we are in 2026. It’s our way of meeting the people where they are,” John Osborne explains in a press release. “Our hope is that these edits will drive people to the deeper story. If they want to meet us where we are, at our live shows, they will likely get even more than what’s available to them on the internet. Different strokes for different folks, and we welcome them all. It’s still us and our songs at the end of the day.”
