BONUS TRACKS: Dolly Parton's Upcoming Las Vegas Residency and Unearthed Led Zeppelin Cover, Plus More Roots Music News

The one-and-only Dolly Parton announced a series of Las Vegas concerts this week — her first residency of the sort in the Neon City in more than three decades. The 79-year-old country icon doesn't tour regularly anymore; her last major outing was 2016's "Pure & Simple" run, so these shows are sure to be spectacular. Although most tickets are already sold out, some VIP experiences remain. Check on Ticketmaster for availability and resales and visit her site for more information.

In other news from around "Dollyworld," Ryan Reed dug deep into the history of Parton covering Led Zeppelin (with a bluegrass flair, of course) for GOOD.

Philadelphia's Kurt Vile, an indie rocker with a folk bent and flowing hair, announced a new EP with Nashville songwriter Luke Roberts. The five-track Classic Love is due out July 25 via Verve Records. Check out the first single below.

This September, songwriting legend Joni Mitchell will release an eight-LP (and four-CD) box set titled Joni's Jazz. The 61-track collection will include never-before-released songs, demos, collaborations with Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius, and Herbie Hancock, as well as previously unseen photos and original artwork by Mitchell in the liner notes.

Also in September, blues guitarist/R&B songwriter Christone “Kingfish” Ingram will release his new album, Hard Road, via his own Red Zero Records. Listen to lead single "Voodoo Charm" here.

Finally, we'd like to point your attention to our sister organization, Folk Alley, which is currently fundraising to meet a $5,000 Matching Challenge courtesy of the WLS Spencer Foundation. The deadline to donate — when every dollar is doubled — is Monday, June 30.
