Last night's 68th annual Grammy Awards spoke truth to power in a way that only the arts can. Puerto Rican stud and star Bad Bunny took home the Album of the Year's guided gramophone for his LP DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, a first for any Spanish-language album. Additionally, he won for Best Música Urbana Album, accepting both awards in Spanish and in English and decrying ICE. "We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans," he said.
Additionally, Billie Eilish (whose song “Wildflower” won Song of the Year), Olivia Dean (who won Best New Artist), Shaboozey (who won Best Country Duo/Group Performance), Kehlani (who won both Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song), and more used their platforms to celebrate immigration and denounce the current administration.
Of course, the Grammy awards celebrate all kinds of roots music, and many artists covered here in No Depression took home trophies. Below, find this year's roots music nominees, with winners in bold. For the entire list of winners and nominees, visit Grammy.com.
