This week's column is a special one, it features the work of ND photographer Astrida Valigorsky. Her photos have been included in various columns – most notably in last year's coverage of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival – but that has just been the tip of the iceberg.
You will notice that Astrida has not limited herself to a specific genre, or even two. Rather, as a professional photographer she goes where the work is and where her sense of adventure takes her. The fact that her photography includes roots musicians is indicative of how much the genre has seeped into the mainstream. Whether she's capturing quiet, still moments or sweeping gestures I find her images to convey excitement, in both her and the performer.
