On first blush Harley-Davidson and the Newport Jazz Festival would seem an odd pairing. But like Felix Unger and Oscar Madison (of The Odd Couple), they have more in common than meets the eye.
Jazz is not only a unique art form, it is generally accepted as this country’s primary contribution to world of music. Whereas, hand built in America Harley-Davidson motorcycles are, despite sleeker European and Japanese models, are considered the epitome of American mechanical craftsmanship. Both are highly regarded iconic institutions showing the world what America does best.
Both also presented weekends of some fabulous roots music, albeit different branches.
