This week the column again reports from two roots festivals held last month in opposite ends of the country — Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California (April 25-27, 2025) and High Water Festival in North Charleston, South Carolina (April 26-27, 2025).
High Water took place at the town’s Riverfront Park which, as its name suggests, sits just north of historic Charleston. Stagecoach makes its home at the spacious Empire Polo Club in the beautiful desert landscape of California’s Coachella Valley.
Again, as reported last year (and the year before), both fests offered splendid food and drink. Stagecoach provides a variety of BBQ styles from across the country, and High Water specializes in seafood. The fests also provided numerous craft beers and a wide variety of cocktails for the discerning roots music listener.
