The Weather Station released two new standalone singles this week titled "Airport" and "Only The Truth." As frontwoman and songwriter Tamara Lindeman said in a press release, "“There were so many strong songs I left off Humanhood because the album had such a narrative arc to adhere to." In honor of indie record label Father/Daughter's 15th anniversary this year, Anna McClellan covered Esther Rose's "Always Changing" for the label's F/D Fifteen series. As McClellan said in a press release:
It’s an amazing song. And I knew I would be on the road when it came time to record so I wanted to pick something with a simple structure to easily bring in other people. I ended up in Kittery, ME staying with Lincoln of Hello Shark for a few weeks and enlisted him and Kelsey and Austin to help with the recording. Kelsey already had "Always Changing" in her repertoire so it came together naturally. We spent two beautiful mornings tracking the parts with the sun shining in through the window.
Rose continued:
Anna McClellan has a singular voice and exceptional writing talents, and I was flattered and wowed by this cover. The song itself has become a sort of anthem in my life. It remains an all-time favorite song to play live, and somehow it just gains strength and relevance as the years pass. There's a lesson in it that I don't want to forget.

Vickie Vaughn (of Della Mae) announced a solo album titled Travel On due out November 21 via Mountain Home. The 11-track LP, produced by Deanie Richardson (of Sister Sadie) comes a decade after her last release under her own name. Listen to the title track below.
Texas blues musician, pianist, and singer Marcia Ball announced her retirement from touring, as well as a diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). She wrote the following statement delivered by her longtime label, Alligator Records:
As many of you may know or have heard, over recent months, I have been struggling with voice issues and have not been able to perform as I have always done. This has been frustrating for me since performing with my band and my musical friends has been my life.
So, I must now share this with my fans and friends: I had a visit to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN recently, and I have finally received some answers, though not the ones I had hoped for. I have ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), and I need to share that with my family, friends, fans and many music collaborators and associates.
The support I have received from Kurland, my booking agency, my record label, Alligator Records, all the hundreds of venues I have played at over the decades along with the thousands of fans I have met and become friends with over so many years has been a real joy.
It is impossible to predict how this ALS diagnosis will impact my life fully. At this early stage however, I know that performing is something I can no longer do. I can't sing.
Sadly, I have canceled all the shows I had confirmed for the foreseeable future. The absolute last thing I want to do is to cancel shows. My sincere apologies.
I will be entering a treatment program at UT San Antonio, and I am hopeful that the progression of symptoms is slow to appear. ALS has no known cure at this time, but there are a few drugs that may be prescribed.
My family, circle of friends, and band mates are providing me support as this news sinks in. Adjustments will be necessary but one thing that won’t change is my love and support for the music community, and you can be sure I will be out listening to music every chance I get.
Thank you for your understanding and allowing me the time and space I need to make these unexpected life adjustments.
Congratulations to ND's June 2024 Spotlight artist Kaitlin Butts, who just signed a major label record deal with Republic Records! Check out her Instagram announcement and watch the exclusive video of her performing "Come Rest Your Head (On My Pillow) for No Depression below.
