In June 2026, a new Dolly Parton-themed hotel will be opening in Nashville. According to the website, the SongTeller Hotel will weave "Dolly's songwriting spirit...into every room and suite. Wake up inspired by the artistic design, curated refinement, and unique Southern charm." Additionally, the new development will also be home to an immersive, interactive exhibit called Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum. Read more at AFAR.
Rhiannon Giddens and Rissi Palmer, with help from writer/editor/broadcaster/sometimes ND-contributor Kelly McCartney, have collaborated on a kids book titled Color Me Country: A Celebration of Black Women Who Shaped Country Music. Esther Rose released a double A-side single, including the songs “That’s My DJ” and “Heather” today via New West Records. The tracks follow her LP, Want, which came out in April (ND review).
American Aquarium surprise-released a live LP from their show at Red Rocks, opening for Turnpike Troubadours on May 9, 2024. Only 1,000 copies will be pressed on vinyl and it will also be available on CD. Snatch 'em while you can on the band's website.
Two longstanding folksingers John McCutcheon and Tom Paxton announced their second duo album, Together Again, due out on January 9, 2026. Their song "Ukrainian Now" was nominated for Song of the Year at the International Folk Music Awards 2025.
Two benefit concerts honoring The Mavericks and frontman Raul Malo, with proceeds supporting Stand Up To Cancer, have been announced for December 4 and 5 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. Dance The Night Away: A 35 Year Musical Legacy Celebrating The Mavericks & Honoring Raul Malo will feature more than 25 artists, including Patty Griffin, Jim Lauderdale, JD McPherson, Maggie Rose, Marty Stuart, Jamey Johnson, and Steve Earle.
