Lost Highway, a beloved country and alt-country record label of the early-aughts, is coming back to life with support from Interscope Geffen A&M. Most famous for releasing the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou? and albums by artists like Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, and Kacey Musgraves, Lost Highway had been dormant since original founder Luke Lewis retired in 2012.
Earlier this week, the chairman and CEO of Interscope Capitol and IGA, John Janick, announced that Robert Knotts (Thirty Tigers) and Jake Gear (UMG Nashville) would co-lead the label's revival. Additionally, longtime Lost Highway collaborator, the legendary producer and musician T Bone Burnett, will be involved on select projects.
Ringo Starr's latest album Look Up, which Burnett produced and co-wrote most songs on, was actually the first album released on Lost Highway this year (read more in the Spring 2025 issue). Burnett is confirmed to work on a 25th anniversary edition of the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack to come out on Lost Highway later this year.
The label will continue to operate out of Nashville.
And, in time for 4/20 this Sunday (which is also Easter, for anyone tuning in), Willie Nelson is launching an even stronger version of his hemp-derived, THC-infused tonic, dubbed Willie's Remedy+. They'll be available in select stores across Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Florida this spring, and according to a press release, "more states and retailers turning on in the summer."
