Peter Frampton comes alive again on his first album of all new material in 16 years. His son Julian joins the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy Award-winning guitarist as a writer and producer on the album. On this wide-ranging collection of songs, Frampton also gathers a number of special guests, including Sheryl Crow, Graham Nash, Tom Morello, Bill Evans, and H.E.R. Carry the Light features Frampton’s crisp, searing guitar work and his craggy baritone modulating their way through hard-charging rock numbers and jazz-inflected instrumentals.
The title track opens the album with a series of field chants before spare guitar notes play call and response with the chants. The song then blossoms into a shimmering anthemic plea that we “all come together” so “we can change the darkest days.” The song proclaims with hopeful defiance that each individual is a bearer of light and wisdom, and we can make the light “shine forever/ if we all learn from out mistakes.”
