ALBUM REVIEW: Honoring Cindy Walker with ‘It’s All Her Fault’ Tribute Album Grey DeLisle and Friends Lift up One of Country’s Greatest Songwriters

Prolific country songwriter Cindy Walker certainly deserves to be celebrated. In 1970 she became a charter member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and in 1977 Walker was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame. From the 1940s through the 1980s, Walker penned hits for artists ranging from Bob Wills, Ernest Tubb, Eddy Arnold, Roy Orbison, and Wilma Burgess, among many others. In 2006, Willie Nelson paid tribute to Walker on his album You Don’t Know Me: The Songs of Cindy Walker.

When Grey Delisle found out that Walker’s childhood home in Mexia, Texas, was in disrepair, she called on, and gathered, an all-star cast of women in country and roots music to bring their singular voices to Walker’s songs on It’s All Her Fault: A Tribute to Cindy Walker. All streaming proceeds from the album benefit the Cindy Walker Foundation and will help fix up Walker’s childhood home.
