ALBUM REVIEW: Ben Chapman’s ‘Feet On Fire’ is a Powerful Gospel of Growing Up

Three days into 2025, Ben Chapman’s life changed. He and his partner, fellow singer-songwriter Meg McRee, discovered they were going to be parents. They married a few months later and welcomed their son that fall. In less than a year, the “Georgia Dreamin’” artist became a husband, a father, so much more than the alt-country oracle and road-tested troubadour fans have come to know over the last five years.

As this new life unfolded before him, Chapman wrote and recorded his latest album, Feet On Fire, in real time. Across 12 tracks, he bottled moments both massive and mundane and captured the full spectrum of emotions that accompany such metamorphoses, coming away with a brilliant display of both artistic and human evolution.
